Yes, it's been a while. But it's better now than never, right? I'm currently trying to develop a new system for posting concept art that makes things simpler for me. (That's always the unreachable goal.) In the meantime, I'll do my best to keep this page updated a little more often.
One last thing. Help me out here. I know some of you think I've been "making you wait" for new concepts, but that's not how it is. Having said that, if you perhaps don't care for the designs in this set and feel like commenting to say something like, "I've waited months for this?!", don't bother. It'll only tell me there's no point to updating the page in the future. Rate the designs, move on, and check back later. I can't please everybody, nor will I try to do so. Just know that I'm doing my best to keep all aspects of Icethetics updated.
I wanted the 50th collection to be something special. Instead, it's just something to fill the gap so we don't go a full month without concept art. I've been keeping busy lately, blah blah, you already know. I have a new plan to keep this Concepts page fresh which I will be rolling out just as soon as... I have the time. For now, look at these...
If I go another several weeks without an update, just be patient with me. Doing my best.
Within the next few weeks, we'll finally get to see what the Winnipeg Jets will be wearing when they hit the ice in October. Until then, these concepts can hold you over.
I've still got more Jets concepts to come before the imminent unveiling.
Today's set of new concept art is just a random collection. Enjoy!
Lots of creative ideas in this group. Keep them coming!
Since I don't have any news to post on the blog today, how about some new concepts? I tried to pick one of the themes suggested in the comments of the last post, but I didn't really have what you guys were looking for. I know you'll be sad to hear that so here are some blue jerseys.
A few weeks ago I promised a concept post dedicated to the Florida Panthers. That was before the Winnipeg Jets logos happened. Now it's been way too long since the last update, so it's time to deliver.
Still working on theme ideas for the next post. If you have a suggestion, let me know.
The Winnipeg Jets have not yet announced a release date for their new uniform design, but there are certainly no shortage of suggestions from Icethetics concept artists. In this set, we see the red start to disappear from most of the jerseys.
I'm sure there's still more to come. And at some point soon I'll try to work in that Florida Panthers post I promised a while back. Obviously the Jets are the hot topic of the moment.
Everybody seems to be taking advantage of the "jet-set" puns lately, so I figured I'd join the crowd. Tonight, a fine collection of Winnipeg Jets jerseys for your enjoyment.
That last one would just be absolutely hysterical! One thing the team has said about its uniforms is that the only red on them will be the maple leaf. So all these red stripes are just not meant to be. More Jets concepts coming Thursday!
On Friday, the Winnipeg Jets unveiled their new logos. In the 24 hours since then, Icethetics concept artists have been hard at work putting them onto their own jersey designs. Let's see how they turned out.
For my money, Brian has the best jersey design while Drew has what I think is the best color scheme. Perhaps the Jets will find something in here. If they do, I could see myself loving the uniforms even if I'm not completely sold on the new primary logo. If you've got a Jets concept to share, feel free to send it along!
Got a handful of concept art to share. No theme on this one, just a mish-mash of some interesting ideas.
Been getting a lot of Panthers concepts, by the way. Thinking the next post may be Florida-themed.
I'm a little surprised at the lack of original Jets concepts being submitted. Also just didn't realized I have freshened up this page in two weeks. That's the longest we've gone in months. Here's a look at what's come in for Winnipeg.
Should have another round of concepts in the next few days.
In honor of the Predators' forthcoming gold home jersey — a first in the NHL in decades — here are some yellowish uniforms designed by our Icethetics concept artists.
Still anticipating a Winnipeg Jets post before the team officially unveils their new logo and uniforms, but oddly, not a lot of concepts coming in at this point. You know how to reach me!
Today we go without a theme. Just a few random concepts I thought you might appreciate.
This is the final auto-published post of the week. I should be able to get the site back to normal in the next couple of days. Hope you've enjoyed these concept designs during my absence.
Sadly, my trip will be wrapping up soon but as promised, I did prepare a new concept art post. Today's theme is stars — of all varieties. We'll start with the Dallas Stars, work in the Minnesota North Stars, and finish off with an All-Star design. Enjoy!
One more auto-published post awaits Sunday before I get back on Tuesday.
Not to rub it in, but once again, if all is going to plan, I should be docked in Jamaica right about now. Anyway. I don't keep a tally of what teams get the most love from our concept artists. But if I did, I'd wager the Ducks must be right at or near the top of such a list. I guess there's just something about the Ducks brand that makes everyone want to rebrand them. So today I present some of the many attempts at fixing the look of Anaheim hockey.
Has there been another NHL team since the '90s expansion with such an automatically identifiable color scheme? When you see that combination of eggplant and jade, you instantly know what it represents. The next closest thing might be the black, silver and blue of the Lightning — and even that's going away now. But I digress. Another set of concepts will auto-publish on Friday morning if I've set up everything properly.
If all has gone according to plan, I should be spending the day on the high seas en route to some tropical island somewhere. But I'm going to put you guys in the opposite state of mind with something a bit more wintry. Collected here are some sharp Winter Classic concepts.
The most prevalent rumors have the Flyers hosting the Rangers on the day after New Year's 2012. Of course that hasn't stopped some from hoping for a Western Conference match-up. Look for a new set of concept art on Wednesday.
Since it's not likely many more Atlanta Thrashers concepts will make their way to my inbox now, I thought I'd share some of the ones I've been hanging onto. But within the same post, I'll also transition to some Winnipeg works of art. And while a name still has yet to be announced for that team — Jets appears to be the favorite of our designers.
This is probably the last you'll hear from me until June 21. I'll be on vacation until then. However, I have prepared several concepts posts to auto-publish while I'm away. Check back on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and next Sunday for new stuff.
And as a side note, your comments on these posts may not be approved until I return. I'll be at sea during my trip and therefore likely without Internet access. But we'll see how that goes.
Today is my birthday so I'm celebrating with this gift to you: New concept art! Since I didn't feel like coming up with a theme, here are five randomly selected concepts which have been submitted to Icethetics. Enjoy!
Obviously, the next set, which should be up this week, will feature the Winnipeg concepts that have come in.
Reebok has told retailers to expect a new alternate jersey for the New York Islanders next season. The rumor mill has told us to expect it to be black. That's inspired our concept artists to designs some new looks for the Isles — some of which are, in fact, black.
What do you think of these? And what do you think the Islanders should do with a new third jersey? Is black the right way to go? Orange? Will they add a new logo of some kind? Speculate away!
