Cosmonauts Jersey Voting: Round 1

It's time to start the process of picking a uniform design for the Moscow Cosmonauts!

We have a lot of voting to do over the next couple of weeks. More than 120 individual jersey designs were entered for the four teams in Division A of the IceHL World. Because the brackets will be large, we'll be handling voting separately for each team.

We start with the Cosmonauts, who have 39 submissions! This number breaks the previous league record of 31, set by the Lumberjacks and Dragons last summer.

Because we have so many rounds and so many teams to cover, I'm cutting back the length of each round to just two days, instead of three. I don't want to drag this out. Before you vote check out all 39 entries.

Submit your Division A jersey designs!

This has been an incredibly busy summer for the IceHL, no doubt. On Wednesday night, the winning logo designs for the first group of IceHL World teams were revealed. Now it's time to give them some cool jersey designs!

THE RULES

  • Design 2 contrasting jerseys using team colors and logos provided. (Equipment such as socks, gloves and helmets is optional.)
  • Both jerseys must be in the same image file (PNG or PDF preferred).
  • Submit your final design to icethetics@gmail.com by July 24.
  • Include your first and last name and email address in the graphic you submit and in the body of your email. (Your name will be displayed during voting but your email address will remain private.)
  • Most important: GET CREATIVE!

JERSEY DESIGN KIT

To enter the contest you will need to download the IceHL Jersey Design Kit. Click the blue button on the right.

The Design Kit is a ZIP containing the following files:

  • 4 double jersey templates (PNG)
  • 13 team logos (primary, secondary and wordmarks for the Cosmonauts, Samurai, Armada and Hammers)

Like the Honu jersey contest, the template provided is strongly encouraged, but not required to enter.

Designers may use any template they choose as long as the resulting image uses a 5x3 aspect ratio (preferably 1600x960 pixels) and includes these elements:

  • Two contrasting jerseys (front and back for both)
  • Full set of numbers and letters (make note of any fonts used)
  • Optional: socks, helmets, gloves and pants

When customizing your jerseys, you may use any name and number you choose. (Inappropriate names will disqualify a submission.)

Please note that the team logos in the Design Kit are to be used only on jersey submissions. You may not use them for any other purpose.

Final note. Simply submitting your jersey design doesn't guarantee it will be included in the voting process. If it doesn't meet a certain level of quality, I'll give you the opportunity to try again as long as you meet the deadline. (But I always accept far more than I reject.)

IceHL World: Division A Logos Revealed!

It's time to reveal the winning logos for the first group of teams in the IceHL World!

Voters previously voted to carry over the Armada branding from the IceHL East, but the team will need new jerseys as a member of the IceHL World. Jersey submissions for all four of these teams will begin on Thursday. Look for a new post containing the Jersey Design Kit.

The final phase of the Hawaii Honu branding project is upon us!

Over the next couple of weeks, we will select a winning uniform design for the franchise from the 28 submissions included the bracket above. Since the first round features 12 match-ups, they will be split into two sets of polls.

Part 1 featured the logos from the left side of the bracket. Part 2 will has the rest. Subsequent rounds will not be split up.

Osaka Samurai: Final Logo Selection

The IceHL World Division A team logos will be revealed on Wednesday, as previously announced. In the meantime, we have one last poll to determine the Osaka Samurai logo.

As you know, the Samurai logo originally submitted by Daniel Otters had to be disqualified because a photo was traced to create the design. There was no malicious intent on Daniel's part, simply a misunderstanding of the contest rules.

Because Daniel has been an upstanding participant in several past IceHL design competitions, I decided to give him a chance to correct his mistake. I told him if he wanted to redesign his primary logo, I would put it in front of voters at the end of the initial bracket.

Daniel has taken me up on this offer so his logo will once again face Colin Magee, who won the previous round. The two designers were originally set to face off in the round before but for the disqualification. So this works out very well in terms of closure.

This final poll will determine the winning design for the Samurai. It ends Tuesday.
