IceHL World: Div. A Logo Selection, Round 3

divA-logos-brkt3.png

We're continuing to narrow down the logos for our IceHL World Division A teams!

The brackets look a little odd because I received varying numbers of logo entries for each team. The Cosmonauts started with 10, the Samurai with 7, and the Hammers with 9.

Results are hidden until polls close. This semifinal round ends Tuesday. Happy voting!

Moscow Cosmonauts

Osaka Samurai

UPDATE · Jul 7 · It has come to my attention that the Samurai logo submitted by Daniel Otters must be disqualified from the competition. The artwork is not original. Colin Magee's design now advances by default to the final round. Details here...

Stockholm Hammers

Don't forget the Hawaii Honu jersey contest is going on now! Deadline is July 11.

IceHL World: Div. B Name Selection, Final Round

We're down to the last polls in the IceHL World Division B name brackets!

Each team started with eight names suggested by Icethetics readers. Now, it's time to make some final decisions. There are four polls for the four teams.

Results are hidden until polls close. This round ends Monday night. Happy voting!

The names will be announced on Tuesday and that's when I'll begin accepting logo designs. You'll have about two and a half weeks to design and submit your work. If you need extra time, just let me know in advance.

IceHL World: Div. A Logo Selection, Round 2

divA-logos-brkt2.png

We're continuing to narrow down the logos for our IceHL World Division A teams!

The brackets look a little odd because I received varying numbers of logo entries for each team. The Cosmonauts started with 10, the Samurai with 7, and the Hammers with 9.

Because of the uneven brackets, I've had to play with how the first couple rounds of voting work so that every team is involved in every round. If you look at the brackets above, the match-ups with a blue box are featured in this round.

Results are hidden until polls close. This round ends Saturday night. Happy voting!

Moscow Cosmonauts

Here are the 4 polls for this round.

Osaka Samurai

There is just one poll in this round.

Stockholm Hammers

Here are the 4 polls for this round.

NOTE: Remember, this division's fourth team is the Quebec Armada, whose logo design will be retained. However, the team will get new jersey designs this summer.

IceHL World: Div. B Name Selection, Round 3

Voting continues in the IceHL World Division B name brackets!

Each team started with eight names suggested by Icethetics readers. Now, your votes will determine the winners!

Results are hidden until polls close. This round ends Friday night. Happy voting!

Now I'm sure many of you are wondering what the Round 4 polls will look like. So allow me to explain. (Or skip this part and be surprised on Saturday.)

With Division A, it was all very straightforward. We chose cities to go with the selected nicknames. Division B will be a little more interesting.

Here are the various options we'll have depending on the outcomes of these Round 3 polls.

UNITED KINGDOM

This one should be relatively easy.

  • Royal London HC // Royal Scotland HC
  • Glasgow Highlanders // Scotland Highlanders

AUSTRALIA

I'm going to take advantage of my league commissioner powers here. I'm giving a second chance to a name I think we be incredibly cool in our league. But you still make the decision.

  • Brisbane Wombats // Sydney Wombats // Gold Coast Rush
  • Brisbane Bushwackers // Melbourne Bushwackers // Gold Coast Rush

SWITZERLAND

It's been pointed out several times that the mountain goat species known as the bighorn is found in North America while the species found in the Swiss Alps is known as the ibex. While Ibex was not an original name option, I will allow it in this final round.

  • Geneva Mountaineers // Bern Mountaineers // Switzerland Mountaineers
  • Geneva Bighorns // Bern Bighorns // Bern Ibex

GREECE

Another simple one. Pretty obvious.

  • Athens Minotaurs // Crete Minotaurs
  • Athens Owls // Crete Owls

There you have it. Those will be the options in Round 4 pending the outcomes of Round 3. So now you know what to expect when you cast your votes. Any questions? Just ask. (If you think I'm abusing my power by including three names for Australia, feel free to say so.)

IceHL Hawaii: Logo Selection, Final Round

This is it for the Hawaii Honu logo design bracket!

Many talented artists have contributed great time and energy into making this the best pool of logo designs for any IceHL team yet. Regardless of who wins, I have to send out my huge thanks to everyone participating!

Our bracket began with 20 logo packages submitted by 18 designers. Through a series of polls we're down to the final pair. The winner of this last poll will go on to represent the Honu franchise.

Best of luck to our final two designers! Results are hidden until the bracket closes on Thursday night. Happy voting!

The winning logo set will be revealed Friday. The jersey design submission process will then begin over the weekend and run through the end of next week. More details to come.

IceHL World: Div. A Logo Selection, Round 1

divA-logos-brkt1.jpg

Is it just me or is our IceHL World project just flying by this summer? It's already time to choose logos for our Division A teams!

The brackets look a little odd because I received varying numbers of logo entries for each team. The Cosmonauts have 10, the Samurai have 7, and the Hammers have 9.

Because of the uneven brackets, I've had to play with how the first few rounds of voting work so that every team is involved in every round. If you look at the bracket above, the match-ups with a blue box are featured in this round.

Results are hidden until polls close. This round ends Wednesday night. Happy voting!

By the way, don't forget about the Quebec Armada. Since voters chose to keep the team's existing branding, we haven't seen much of them lately. However, we will be redesigning their uniforms in the next phase of the project.
