Justin Brolley gives the New York Rangers a new retro-ish treatment today.
For a brief time in the mid-1970s, the Rangers wore their shield emblem on the front of the sweater. For the rest of their existence, it's been the diagonal text we know and love. But Dallas Kirkpatrick still thinks the shield is worth a shot. Do you?
Something about this New York Rangers concept feels retro yet futuristic at the same time — like someone from the '70s tried to imagine what the team would like like in 50 years. I think it looks great and if the Columbus Blue Jackets didn't exist, I'd say they should wear it. What about you?
John Elbertson wanted to give the timeless New York Rangers a modern update. I'm sort of a sucker for that Lady Liberty logo, but I'm not sure how the purists will feel about the Blueshirts using anything but diagonal letters on their sweaters.
I've been staring at them for a while but I'm not quite sure what to make of these New York Rangers jerseys from Ryan Christensen. This submission has been collecting dust in the vault since June 2016 — Ryan's a very prolific artist!
He submitted them with no comment. Here's what I've decided. They're from an alternate universe. One in which Original Six teams like the Rangers wear "vintage white" every night — save for that rare third jersey occasion when they "clean up" and sneak in some real white. I don't know. What do you make of them?
