Bruins, Blackhawks unveil jerseys for 2019 Winter Classic
/Two months after Icethetics’ initial leak of the 2019 NHL Winter Classic jerseys, we got confirmation today and the official reveals by the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks. This outdoor match-up on Jan. 1 at Notre Dame is going to look phenomenal.
Let’s start with the Bruins, who were first with their unveiling this morning.
Boston merged elements from a few of the brown and gold sweaters they wore in the 1930s — alongside the modern version of their “B” crest. The championship years on the inside of the collar are a nice touch.
Chicago did the same thing. The other feature shared by both sweater is a felt crest.
The Blackhawks’ sweater was revealed at a special event tonight just before their game. The next Winter Classic will be their first time wearing black and white since the mid-1930s. But they couldn’t get by without at least a touch of red, of course. Inside the collar where they note their Stanley Cups, the years are printed in red.
Like I said, it’ll be great-looking Winter Classic.
