0557: The WNHL Series, Part 3

Nick Burton's six-part series on a fictional women's hockey league picks up today with the Toronto Metros. How do you think the league is shaping up so far?

0550: The WNHL Series, Part 2

Last week kicked off our WNHL Wednesdays miniseries from Nick Burton. He's creating custom teams for a fictitious Women's National Hockey League in six North American cities. He began with the Montreal Royals and today moves on to the Boston Irish.

0543: The WNHL Series, Part 1

Women's hockey will be the focus of the next six Wednesdays. Nick Burton presents his WNHL series, wherein he imagines a female pro hockey league and its Original Six franchises. This week we feature the Montreal Royals.

Nick writes: "Montréal Royals/Royals de Montréal — The Royals take their colour scheme from the Canadiens but darkened to make the team unique. The team name Royals is derived from the city name itself, which translates to Mount Royal."

0514: Pittsburgh Gold

With all the talk about the Sabres going gold with their new third jersey, you have to wonder what other teams might be able to pull it off. The Pittsburgh Penguins have done it before, but not quite like what Nick Burton had in mind. His concept borrows from the Pens' original third jersey from the '90s.

0507: Philly Blackout

I never liked the black Reebok Edge jerseys the Flyers started wearing in 2007. But I almost always like anything Nick Burton submits. So this was tricky. A black Flyers jersey from Nick. Somehow, though, I like this one. It's all in the striping, of course. But it's a sharp look. Third jersey, anyone?
