Welcome to a brand new weekly concept series! University Sundays will celebrate a part of the hockey world that goes almost completely overlooked on Icethetics — college hockey! We start with Matt McElroy's take on the Huskies of the University of Washington (right here in Seattle).
Believe it or not, this Winter Classic Weekend post was scheduled long before yesterday's unveiling of the official new Winter Classic logo. But because of that, it couldn't be coming at a better time. Matt McElroy has assembled a beautiful set of uniforms here as well as a great logo. Now that we've seen the real logo, I can't wait to see the real uniforms as well!
It's been three months since Matt's original design was posted, but he's made some revisions he wanted to share. So if you've been perusing the archives, consider this a treat!
That's kind of a preposterous question. For one thing, Reebok would never go for it. But moreover, this isn't what would happen if Nike designed the jersey. It's what happened when Matt McElroy designed one on a Nike template. I have to be honest. I love the color combination here and I think this would make for a really cool third jersey. But it sounds like most Pens fans here are tired of blue alternates.
We're probably not getting any new third jersey this fall, but that's not going to stop our concept artists from proving why we should be. Matt McElroy has a blue option for the Nashville Predators and it's a pretty solid look, if you ask me. Now I'm asking you. Thoughts?
