Olympic Dreams on the British Isles

This week we're looking at concepts for nations that are not playing Olympic hockey in Sochi. Today, we head to the British Isles where Matt McElroy put together this set for Ireland. It's no surprise the Irish aren't participating. The highest they've ever been ranked by the IIHF is 40th. (And they once lost a game to Romania 22-0. A hockey game.)

David Parkinson takes us across the Irish Sea for a set of British uniforms. The crest is a little hard to see over the chest stripe, but I like the use of Nike's new shoulder embellishments. What do you think of these two sets?

Sunshine Stadium Series

It's clear from a recent poll of Icethetics readers, you're absolutely not interested in seeing a Stadium Series game hosted in the Sunshine Staete next season. So maybe with the help of David Parkinson, I can try to change your mind. Look at this. Wouldn't it be cool?

Steel City Stadium Blue

The Pittsburgh Penguins will be anything but colorful in their Stadium Series game against the Blackhawks next month. So David Parkinson figured he'd infuse a little pigment by merging a couple of bygone Pens eras. The result is a solid hockey sweater.

Classic '80s Flashback

This takes me back a bit. If you were a hockey fan in the 1980s and early '90s, you no doubt remember this great uniform match-up. David Parkinson had the 2015 Winter Classic in mind when he came up with this one. But frankly, I don't want to see the Flyers in a third outdoor game so soon.

Had to track down a photo, of course. That's Craig Berube in the Caps jersey. In a funny twist, now coaches the Flyers. He actually jumped around between these two teams throughout his career. And in the Philly sweater is Jim Cummins just before he was traded to Tampa Bay in 1994.

So who would make a good opponent for the Caps next winter?

0696: Philly in Grey

I never know how designs like this one will go over with you guys. You'll either love it or hate it. Could you imagine the Philadelphia Flyers in grey? I think this could be such a sharp sweater by David Parkinson, who was inspired by a ball cap design he once saw.
