Five By Avi Stein

Avi Stein has some third jersey ideas for several teams. Red and black seems to be the theme of the day, but there are some standouts in here, including the modern/retro Caps jersey. I'm also partial to his Hawks design. How about you?

All-Star Flashback Fix

This one's been sitting in the archives a while, but with the NHL All-Star Game just a few weeks behind us, I thought we might look at a uniform idea Avi Stein put together. It's a little along the lines of what we've been seeing in the AHL in recent years.

One Final All-Star Overhaul

On the day of the 2015 NHL All-Star Game, Avi Stein is taking a shot at fixing the jerseys. Here's his explanation for the four-sweater look.

The general consensus about the NHL ASG uniforms is that they are pretty horrible. There are plenty of ways both the NHL and Reebok could have avoided the monstrosities that they released. For this concept, I came up with a solid solution (in my humble opinion), and fixed Reebok's mess.

For starters, there are actually two sets of uniforms that I have proposed. One for the Skills Competition, and one for the actual All-Star Game itself.

My reasoning for this is that the Skills Competition is extremely gimmicky, which is a great chance for the NHL to showcase a "gimmicky" uniform. And while the actual ASG isn't much better, it is a long-lasting traditional game (albeit not competitive) that deserves more than a one-off gimmicky jersey that's tacky.

When you look at an NHL All Star jersey, you should be able to identify it immediately as an ASG jersey, not a motocross jumpsuit. Since both the league and Reebok seem so fixated on chrome logos/neon piping/colors that stand out, there are some aspects that I kept around

Have a look.

So what do you think of Avi's solution? Did he hit the mark?

(By the way, my apologies for posting today's concept so late.)

San Jose Made in Grey

The San Jose Sharks are looking pretty plain these days without those waist stripes. Avi Stein takes it a step further with a mostly colorless jersey.

The Kings wore a grey Stadium Series jersey last season. They have a new one for this season coming on Dec. 16. We're also likely to see the Sharks' Stadium Series jersey in the next couple weeks as well. But it'll probably be teal.

Outfitting the Blue Jackets

Avi Stein goes back to the Columbus Blue Jackets' well to give his team a whole new look. Forget the flag-wrapped star, this one is all about the cannon. And the third jersey is particularly interesting.
