Kings, Lightning, Maple Leafs new third jerseys leak
When the 2018-19 season started a few weeks ago, we were still awaiting the unveiling of three third jerseys from the Los Angeles Kings, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Toronto Maple Leafs. Today, we’re finally getting a look at them!
The images were posted to the international version of the NHL’s official online store. I don’t think they were meant to be made public just yet, but here we are.
The Kings jersey is an Adizero version of the club’s gray 50th anniversary sweater — which aligns with earlier JerseyWatch reports. The Maple Leafs jersey also aligns with the rumors that the team would wear the white and green St. Pats jersey again. But I don’t expect this to be a full third — just a throwback for a game or two.
The interesting one comes from the Lightning. The diagonal “BOLTS” crest is gone but the jersey is still black. And if this is an accurate image, there appear to be no striping elements at all — just a strange gradient-like pattern down the sleeves and dark grey versions of their shoulder patch.
I had heard that it would be all black — but I didn’t realize it would literally be “all black.” My initial thought was this was a placeholder image, but after seeing the Kings and Leafs jerseys, it feels pretty legitimate.
Of course none of these are official yet so take it for what it’s worth.
