AHL back in Winnipeg with return of Manitoba Moose
They're back! After spending the last four seasons in Newfoundland, the Winnipeg Jets' top development team is becoming the Manitoba Moose once again.
The unveiling of the name and new logo came at a press conference in Winnipeg this morning. The team is resurrecting the old Moose logo but in Jets colors.
Also revealed were the team's uniforms, which are, as expected, identical to the Jets' apart from the moose head on the front.
And by the way, they're not too terribly different from a concept designed by Mike Ivall last month.
You'll recall the original Moose team was chased from Winnipeg when the Atlanta Thrashers relocated in 2011. Guess this town is big enough for both teams after all.
The Jets and Moose will share the MTS Centre beginning in the fall. Similarly, the San Jose Sharks and newly named San Jose Barracuda will split the SAP Center.
Curious to see how this works out. Will we see more NHL teams take in their AHL operations in the future? That's a question for another time though.
For now, what do you think of the return of the Moose and their new look?
