Nashville unveils 2016 NHL All-Star logo
The 2016 NHL All-Star logo was unveiled today at the Music City Sports Festival in Nashville.
Shaped like a guitar pick, the mark features plenty of traditional symbolism from country music as well as Tennessee, including the three stars from the state flag — also seen in the Predators' secondary logo.
Noteworthy here is the very clear effort to rebrand NHL All-Star Weekend as a major event beyond just the All-Star Game — the word "game" is nowhere to be seen in this logo.
In fact, I cannot remember ever seeing an NHL All-Star logo that didn't have "game" in it. Is this a first? We know Nashville intends to leave its mark on this event next season and set some new precedents.
The NHL's elite will descend on Nashville on Jan. 30-31, 2016. Might want to keep an eye on this one.
