Avalanche officially reveal Colorado-themed third jersey

For two months, Icethetics readers have known what the new Colorado Avalanche third jersey would look like. Today, it became officially official.

The Avs unveiled their new alternate uniform to fans at an open practice this morning — finally confirming all those rumors from the summer.

A rendering of the design was first seen in an Icethetics exclusive report on Aug. 11. Then a month later, the NHL's international online store accidentally posted images for the world to see.

In a video posted to the team's website and social media platforms, the team explains, "the goal of the uniform is to celebrate both the identity of the state of Colorado and our history of hockey."

The white shoulders are meant to represent the snow-capped peaks of the nearby Rocky Mountains while the crest is described as "a modern take on one of the greatest sports logos of all time." In conclusion, they tell us that "the future comes from the past."

Fans will see the new sweater in action 14 times during the regular season. The team released the full schedule online. (It will be added to the Icethetics Jersey Calendar accessed from the Extras section at the top of the page.)

So now that it's official, what do you think of the Avs' new third jersey?
